Synopsis
This unusual lecture explores the links between the visual and the aural, picture and sound. Drawing on the works of great painters such as Brueghel, Hogarth and Bosch, Stella presents a variety of images of woodwind instruments in their original social context. She also explores the symbolism of music in medieval and Renaissance arts, accompanied by live performances on authentic instruments.
