Bertie Pearce
This is one of the quirkiest lectures you will ever see. There is a universal delight in being deceived and in this lecture Bertie takes his audiences on a whistle stop tour of art which fools, surprises and amuses. Beginning and ending with the Belgian surrealist, Renee Magritte, it encompasses Trompe L’oeil, Banksy, Bridget Riley, Arcimboldo, and Escher to name a few. Hold on to your seats and get ready to be visually fried.
Bertie is a Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star. He has performed all over the world in weird and wonderful places including The Magic Castle in Hollywood, The Kulm Hotel in St Moritz, The Bertie and Boo Cafe in Balham, London and now for GAFAS in Glasgow!
Equipped with a BA(Hons) in drama from Manchester University, he went on to the Ecole Internationale du Theatre Jaques Lecoq in Paris. He has been an accredited Art Society lecturer for 15 years but also finds time to do pantomimes and cruise ships as well as touring extensively, sharing his passion for Magic, Punch and Judy, Victorian Pastimes and Charles Dickens.
