This talk may raise some eyebrows, but it is hoped that those who like Rococo might see Pop Art differently, and those who like Pop Art might look at Rococo again.
Steve will be looking at the similarities between the spirit of the 18th century Rococo painting and the philosophy of 20th century Pop Art by comparing the lives and art of Anton Watteau (1685-1721) and Andy Warhol (1928-1987).

Steve Carroll
Steve started his career as a graphic designer but has been an art and art history lecturer for nearly two decades, resulting in a wide knowledge of art history from the Medieval period to the contemporary world, as well as that of ancient civilisations and pre-industrial societies.
A man of many talents, he also teaches art to street children in Kolkata, India and has published a trilogy of science-fiction books imaging a universe where the appreciation of art and culture becomes illegal and all artefacts are destroyed.
